a year-round, bustling town, however, the beauty of Chamonix is
that it caters for a huge variety of tastes and needs. Whether you
are an expert climber and mountain biker or simply want to relax
in beautiful scenery under the rays of the sun, you'll find it

| Attractions
and nightlife Chamonix boasts one of the highest cable cars in
the world at the Aiguille du Midi, which starts from the valley
floor and climbs to the summit at 3,842m. Looking from the
terraces at the top, you'll experience a fantastic panorama, with
only Mont Blanc more prominent on the horizon. |

Montenvers train is another main attraction.This funicular railway
climbs from the valley floor up to France's largest glacier, the
Mer de Glace. Nearby excursions include a scenic train ride to
Switzerland, a visit to the Medieval town of Annecy - often
referred to as the 'Venice of the Alps', or excursions to the town
of Evian and the fortified village of Yvoire on Lac Léman. |

the children, there is nearby Lake Chavant in Les Houches that has
tennis courts, kid aventure where kids from the age of 4 years
harness up to test their mountaineering skills amongst the trees
as well as a great play area. 15 minutes down the valley takes you
to the Lacs des Passy when it is just too hot in Chamonix. Here
there are swimming areas, beaches and ice-cream cafes, all with
breath taking views of Mont Blanc. |

are numerous bars and restaurants with many clubs still rocking
into the small hours. You can sample a complete cosmopolitan range
of dining including Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Swedish and
American as well as numerous choices of the famous savoyarde
